I was absolutely delighted to design Jennifer’s winning quote from last week’s Crochet Giveaway. Thank you so much to everyone who entered. I was honored to read the quotes and stories you shared with me and will cherish them for a long time to come. Plus, I now have a nice little archive to choose from, should I ever get stuck for quote inspiration!

Sidebar: did you know that Khalil Gibran is the third best selling poet of all time (behind the likes of Shakespeare and Lao-tze)? For good reason.

I love this quote because it reminds me of warm summer nights as a child when I would sprawl across friends’ lawns and talk deep into the night, which reminds me of one of my all time favorite essays, “Knoxville: Summer of 1959”, which is also the first chapter in James Agee’s astounding, heartbreakingly gorgeous novel, A Death In the Family. You can read the first little bit in the Amazon preview. This essay knocked my socks off the first time I read it as an angsty tween and has been doing so every since. Don’t you just love when things you read become your lifelong friends?

Here’s hoping for spring to come and end this very long winter.

What are you most looking forward to about spring?
