There are a few things in life more enjoyable than hosting a family feast. But you know what the hardest part is after a satisfying meal? It has to be having to wash plates covered in a sauce as well as red copper pans coated in grease.

Fortunately for us, we now live in an age when commercially-available dish soaps can make washing of dishes faster and more tolerable. In this post, I’ll briefly discuss the things you want in a dish soap then list down the best dish soaps available in the market.

I’ve sorted the products into four categories— dish soap for soft hands, for cleaning baby bottles, liquid soap, and soap in tablet form.

How to choose a dish soap?

Clean Dishes Quickly And Efficiently With The Best Dish Soap

More than anything else, a dish soap should be able to remove oil and from your dishes.

The truth is that all soaps can clean dirty utensils. But the best dish soaps can cut through the toughest grease in no time. That’s exactly what we are looking for – – soap that can strip and cut through oil and dirt so you can finish washing the dishes in the quickest time possible.

The soap should also be hypoallergenic, which is important if you have sensitive skin. You don’t want soap that is heavily scented as it may contain strong chemicals that can irritate your skin. Choose a soap that is lightly scented instead.

Lastly, choose a soap that rinses well. A dish soap may be very powerful in cutting grease, but it goes to naught if it takes forever to rinse it off.

Best dish soap for soft hands

In choosing dish soap for soft hands, you’d want a product that can keep your hands soft and moisturized. It should also have a nice perfume. But you should not forget, too, the very role that dish soap does which is to clean dirty plates, pots, and pans.

Here are two dish soaps for soft hands that I can recommend to you:

Caldrea Dish Soap, Sea Salt Neroli, 16 oz

Caldrea Dish Soap, Sea Salt Neroli, 16 oz

On the other hand, this dish soap contains natural degreaser. It is capable of cutting through grease in tough pots and pans.

Despite its tough grease-cutting action, it can protect your hands and skin thanks to the incorporation of aloe vera. The plant is known to be used in many skincare products as it can hydrate and soften the skin.

It has a perfume-like scent that some users describe as a bit strong. But as far as cleaning power is concerned, it has been getting very positive reviews. It does a great job of cutting through the toughest grease in pots and pans.

Because of its ability to cut through grease while still keeping the hands soft and moisturized, the Caldrea Dish Soap is my choice in this category. Some users even think that the Caldrea Dish Soap even has a better smell.

Best dish soap for baby bottle

Parents who have babies at home know how difficult it can be to wash dirty baby bottles. That’s why it is important to look for a dish soap that can effectively clean the bottle, eliminate the milk smell and keep the bottle safe for a baby to use.

Here are three dish soaps that you can use for washing baby bottles:

1.Babyganics Foaming Dish and Bottle Soap

Babyganics Foaming Dish and Bottle Soap, Fragrance Free, 16oz Pump Bottle (Pack of 3)

Babyganics Foaming Dish and Bottle Soap, Fragrance Free, 16oz Pump Bottle (Pack of 3)

This soap is made of organic and non-toxic ingredients. You can be assured that this soap won’t leave any residue behind. It won’t also cause your hands to get dry even if you’ve been using it for extended periods.

It pumps out a soft foam, with the suds going a long way. You’ll only need a few pumps to fill up a bowl where you can soak bottles and pacifiers. Thus, you can get a lot out of this bottle soap.

This soap is also fragrance-free which is important as you don’t want the scent to overwhelm your baby’s smell or affect the taste of the milk.

The only problem with this dish and bottle soap is that its bottle tends to leak, so you should store it upright or in a leak-proof bag if you are to bring it along.

2. Puracy Natural Liquid Dish Soap

Puracy Natural Liquid Dish Soap, Sulfate-Free Dishwashing Detergent, Green Tea and Lime

This natural liquid dish soap boasts of superior cleaning power. It can quickly cut through the toughest of grease while naturally softening your skin.

It is made of green tea, lime and subtle herbs that give it an organic touch. It is also free from sulfates meaning it is safe and non-irritating to your baby’s skin.

This dish soap is also very effective in cleaning baby bottles. It can easily wash bottles without leaving any residue. Plus, it also rinses well.

3. Seventh Generation Natural Dish Liquid

This company is known for producing eco-friendly products. It has been in the business for more than two decades. As such, this dishwashing soap is made from essential oils. Even the bottles are recycled plastic.

As far as cleaning power is concerned, this dishwashing liquid is powerful enough to cut through the toughest grease. It is also effective in getting rid of that old milk smell. It doesn’t also leave any soapy residue.

You also don’t need to use a lot of this liquid soap to clean baby bottles. This is my choice for the best dish soap for baby bottles.

Best Liquid Soap

1. Dawn Ultra Dishwashing Soap

Dawn Ultra Dishwashing Liquid Dish Soap, Original Scent

The manufacturer says that this dishwashing soap has up to three times more cleaning power per drop. And most testimonials online vouch for the superior cleaning power of this dishwashing soap. Some men even say they can use it for cleaning their car— that’s how powerful this soap is!

You only need a small squirt in a bucket. It can then clean up greasy and dirty plates in an instant. As such you can get the most out of your money with this dishwashing soap. It also leaves a pleasant smell.

2. Mrs. Meyer’s Dish Soap Basil

Mrs. Meyer's Dish Soap Basil

Mrs. Meyer’s Dish Soap Basil

This dish soap contains plant-derived sodium sulfate that makes it very effective in cleaning dishes. It’s an environment-friendly product that is as powerful as any other dish soap.
I’ve used it in my kitchen, and I can vouch for how well it foams and cuts grease. A single squirt can wash numerous dishes. And because it is eco-friendly, I don’t feel guilty at all when I use this dish soap.

This is my choice for the best soap in liquid form. It’s in equal terms with the Dawn liquid soap as far as cleaning power is concerned, but the fact that Mrs. Meyer’s dish soap is eco-friendly makes me opt for this product.

Best soap in tablets form

1. Finish All In 1 Powerball

Finish - All in 1-85ct - Dishwasher Detergent - Powerball - Dishwashing Tablets

Finish – All in 1-85ct – Dishwasher Detergent – Powerball – Dishwashing Tablets

This is one of the most recommended dishwashing soaps today. In fact, many dishwasher brands worldwide recommend it. It has up to 3x more superior cleaning powder than regular dishwashing soap. It’s very good at removing tough coffee stains.

The finish has individually wrapped and pre-measured dishwasher tablets. You simply have to remove one tablet from the wrapper, put it in the main detergent cup and then close the dishwasher. You don’t need to pre-soak or pre-rinse with this soap.

It also leaves dishes without residue and squeaky clean. It also leaves behind a very nice but not too overpowering scent.

2. Biokleen Automatic Dish Soap Powder

Biokleen Automatic Dish Soap Powder - 32 oz - Citrus

Biokleen Automatic Dish Soap Powder – 32 oz – Citrus

Lastly, this dish soap powder is free from chemicals like phosphate. It is very effective in cleaning dishes. You will only need one tablespoon per load to remove tough grease and food residue on plates, pots, and pans. It also has orange peel and grapefruit seed extract that can help in cleaning and fighting off odors.
This dish soap powder is a more eco-friendly product than the Finish dish soap powder. It is also so concentrated that you can expect a small container to last for many months. It also doesn’t leave behind a chemical scent unlike many other dish soaps today.
This is my choice for the best dish soap powder today.

Conclusion

In closing, we are so lucky to have a wide range of dish cleaning products to choose from. You can use a hypoallergenic and moisturizing dish soap if you have sensitive skin. You can use dish soap specially designed for cleaning baby bottles, or dish soap in liquid and tablet forms.
But no matter what type of dish soap you’re looking for, you must always focus on the cleaning power of the product. This is arguably the most important quality of any dish soap.
Now in case you can’t choose between two products which are almost the same when it comes to cleaning power, you can consider other factors like the ingredients used, ease of rinsing off and the smell of the dish soap.
